Re: underground pot ends on live cables

In that case, it's best just to detect the end of the live cable, which is easy to do with a cable/pipe locator. If you observe the signals dying down fast when you move the receiver along the cable, you know you have reached the end.

Re: Difficulty locating concrete sewer

Dear GPRuruguay, You have distorted your data by applying wrong IIR vertical filters. Since you collected your data by using the 400 MHz antenna, so you need to setup your filters as 800 for the low pass and 100 for the high pass filters. We need to pass at least the 400 frequency because this is t...

Re: Ohm Mapper

In this case, there are probably no geophysical methods which can help. You can use steel snakes to trace known plastic pipes with a pipe/cable locator. If you don't know plastic or other non metallic pipes there, you probably won't find them until you dig into them.

A piece of advice -- targeting on the underground utility locating market, it's the single largest market for GPR. For this market, you got to have a rugged monitor for it, a laptop is not the answer.

Re: what are the more important GPR filtres?

It depends on what you do with GPR and the data quality. Sometimes you just don't need any filters. However, the basic filters should be the frequency filters such as DC removal, dewow, and bandpass filters, etc. where you filter out unwanted frequencies. The ability to enable gains in the time dime...

Re: GPR ground-truth: utilities

You can use a cable/pipe locator to get the utility depth if it's a metallic pipe or cable. It's not always accurate, but sometimes it is. You can also use hyperbola curve fitting in GPR data to estimate the depths. Of course, the most accurate method is still to expose the utility.
