need advice

Post by sweafy »

Hello everybody

I am mohammed from Egypt and I need your advise for archaeology field .
I need to buy an instrument can discover subsurface 30m depth . i looking for cavitations and i DON NOT need to search of small objects like dishes .
I think seismic instruments suitable for this case and,
gpr not suitable because the depth and underwater and the clay
resistivity not suitable because i have not enough area
magnatometer not suitable because my working region in hanger of steel
gravometer can used and electromagnetic

so I need your advise

I don't know how much geophysics can help your situation. Microgravity might be your best bet based on what you have described, but 30m is not shallow and the cavities you are looking for got to be big. You can find the equipment at:

The seismic reflection method can give you better ideas about their depths and sizes, but is much more expensive and you definitely need to hire professionals to do it for you.

It might be helpful if you have some pictures of the site.

thank you for your reply
i have not picture now and now I looking over equipment at the link you attached . I think gpr with low MHZ antenna like noggin 100MHZ suitable for this depth

Clay with water might be a problem for GPR, but it's not too expensive to try anyway.

I dont see how archaeology needs that big depths. Typically archaeology needs 3-6m.

Im trying to make a custom RF transmission module with wound coil that can do it and send my sensor data through 70 t 30 metres of solid rock. thanks alot.

For commercial equipment I am aware of only one company working in this area. Stolar Global Imaging sells and also provides service for coal seam imaging. The system is a wound coil for low frequency radar imaging.

Thanks for sharing. Do you know: are they use attenuation on straight rays only? I didn't find technical details on web-site.

I don’t remember the details on that instrument but the founder of the company, Dr. Larry Stolarczyk, patented everything. So I would do a patent search under his name an you should find the details.
