Hello Everyone: Please can anyone make a recommendation regarding the following issue:
For a sub-bottom profiling survey in shallow water (<4 m water depth), is it preferable to use either a 10 or a 3.5 kHz SBP system? The bottom of the project area is covered with clayey and silty sediments.
Please let me know which one would do a better job at such shallow depth.
Cheers,
Felipe
10 vs 3.5 kHz SBP system for shallow water
Re: 10 vs 3.5 kHz SBP system for shallow water
10KHz gives you better resolution and 3.5KHz gives you better penetration depth. I prefer 10Khz since clayey and silt sediments are more friendly than sands for penetration.
