I was looking into different methods for separating downgoing and upgoing wavefields in VSP data. They are mostly focused on the separation itself, i.e. no upgoing wavefield in the separated downgoing data and vice versa. I think, as some of these methods reconstruct these wavefields, the characteristics of each wavefields are also important. One of these that I can name, would be AVO.
All said, I want to ask you that, does even AVO happen in VSP data?! Do we have the variation of amplitude in the range of VSP data offset?
And, if yes, is it important to take it into account during the downgoing-upgoing wavefield separation?
